ORDER ONLY - Goyle Jr.
May. 4th, 2011 11:41 pmI can't help but think -
Snape.
I don't know that he's trying to kill Harry. He claims not.
It bothers me. He sounds like the young Severus, the Severus before he went awry, but more than that. I realise that he is telling people about poisons - but what would we expect? What could we possibly expect from him? His Occlumency advice is good, though it runs ahead of everything, though I can't imagine what good it will do among untrained minds - though I suppose I am not the person to determine that.
I wish I could write him and ask. I realise I can't. My position does not allow it any more than anyone else's. Nevertheless - I don't know what to think about him. I am not nearly so determined as you, Sirius, though perhaps I should be.

Date: 2011-05-05 06:53 pm (UTC)I think the most salient point is that we have absolutely no way of knowing what to expect of him--after all his time in Azkaban, certainly, but after his years in this school as part of one of the Darkest cohorts we've every seen, and after his many years in service to Voldemort (whom he may quite well still be serving for all we know of the matter).
That Dumbledore found uses for him is known to us, but only in the haziest of outlines. Unless there's more that you know of the matter, Minerva.
And in any case, there's nothing really required of us at the moment other than wariness and watching. It's not as though the question before us is 'shall we throw open the doors of Hogwarts School to invite Mr Severus Snape to a tea in the presence of the Lord Pretender's foster son?'
That's not the question we're debating, is it?

Date: 2011-05-05 09:10 pm (UTC)there's a difference between listening to what he has to say, testing it to make sure it's safe, and getting a little use out of it and trust.
no way in hell I trust him.
just so that's clear.
and every thing he says to make or do, no matter how small, I'm gonna test it, make sure it's safe, because other people are gonna try and make it on their own too, and it's important to know whether they're headed into a trap.
and yeah, if it ends up being dead useful and safe to boot, why not? imagine how yarrow tea would've helped me and sirius when we were trapped in the shrieking shack?

Date: 2011-05-05 09:33 pm (UTC)There's no cure for being surrounded by Dementors as you were with that tiny baby to nurse. Chocolate and yarrow both can help with recovering after they depart, but in their presence, there's cod's all to be done but suffer the misery.
